One of my favorite parts about entertaining is setting the table. My goal is to use things from my house and garden to make a festive table. I like to fill it with sentimental things the remind me of past shared meals with friends and family.
For instance, the table setting in the picture brings me back to my in-laws (honestly, could there be a worse name? I prefer referring to them as Lucia and Francesco, my husband's parents). It is from Lucia that I learned (and still mastering the art of) making a centerpiece with fruits and other natural elements. The dishes are also from Lucia and Francesco. They are a set of hand painted porcelain dishes. The design is called "Caffagiolo" because it is inspired by a set of plates from the Medici Villa, Caffagiolo. The flatware was a gift of my father and his ever-so-talented wife, Sharon, who, to this day, sets the most beautiful tables. A final, simple touch, is the sprig of thyme, tied with a piece of twine around a linen napkin.
Share your favorite table setting - and enjoy the lovely atmosphere you create for your family, guests and food!
